Winds of Freedom band concert

The United States Air Force Heartland of America Band’s Winds of Freedom will be performing throughout the area this month, including a performance in Tonganoxie. Winds of Freedom, which is a woodwind ensemble composed of members of the band’s larger performing ensembles, will perform at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 27 at the Tonganoxie Performing Arts Center on the Tonganoxie High School campus. The band also performed in 2008 at the center. The group's repertoire consists of classical, jazz and standard woodwind quintet music showcasing its musical diversity. Winds of Freedom honorably represents more than 325,000 Air Force professionals around the world. Admission is free, but tickets are required for admission. Tickets are now available at The Mirror newspaper office, 520 E. Fourth St. in downtown Tonganoxie. Tickets also can be reserved by calling The Mirror, (913) 845-2222 and can be picked up at The Mirror or before the concert. Any remaining tickets will be available the night of the concert.
