Tonganoxie Historical Society first-person narrative performance

The Tonganoxie Historical Society will offer a first-person narrative about a 19th Century Kansas teacher next week. The event will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 27, at the historical society, 201 W. Washington St. Lynsay Flory will perform a narrative in character as Clara Gowing, a teacher at the Delaware Baptist Indian Mission. She will bring the audience into the world of the 1860 Kansas Territory, where settlers, speculators, missionaries and tribal people all somehow coexisted. But with more white settlers arriving every day and statehood on the horizon, change was imminent.
