Senior Citizens plan for party
As usual, the Tonganoxie senior citizens are on the go.
Their annual Christmas party is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m., on Monday, Dec. 13. This will be a carry-in dinner with Matt Bichelmeyer furnishing the cooked turkeys.
Member Agnes Kissinger said doorprizes will be awarded at 7 p.m., and Santa will be the evening's special guest.
The Unified School District 464 Recreation Commission will give gifts of fruit and candy.
Mark Zerrer, director of the recreation commission, said his organization helps sponsor the seniors' Christmas party.
The recreation commission recently purchased a 32-inch television, video cassette recorder and cart for the center and plans to start showing movies there one day a week.
"There's a possibility we may get a satellite so we may have even more programming options," Zerrer said.
About 100 people attend the center's activities, Kissinger said.
On ongoing project is the quilting that members do on Tuesdays and Fridays.
About six to eight quilters help with the work.
Kissinger, who began quilting when she was a young girl, said it would be nice if younger people who would like to learn quilting would join the quilters.
