The Leavenworth County Sheriff’s Department responded to an injury accident at 8:15 a.m. Oct. 8, at the intersection of Leavenworth County Road 18 and County Road 18 spur.
According to the report, a vehicle driven by Floyd Boldridge, 84, of Atchison, had stopped at a stop sign, and then proceeded, turning east onto County Road 18, when it struck a vehicle driven by Aaron Jones, 17, of Leavenworth. Both were transported by Emergency Medical Service to Cushing Hospital, Leavenworth. Boldridge was cited for failure to yield right of way at a stop sign. Damage was estimated at more than $500.
A non-injury accident was reported at 3:30 p.m. Oct. 10, on Leavenworth County Road 34. Vehicles driven by Christy Decaro, 22, Leavenworth and Charles Walk, 48, Easton, were traveling westbound on County Road 34, when Decaro’s vehicle rear-ended Walk’s vehicle.
The Leavenworth County Sheriff’s Department took part in a search for a missing person, reported at about 1:45 a.m. Oct. 7. According to the report a 75 year-old woman suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease left her home between 10:30 p.m. Oct. 6 and 1:45 a.m. Oct. 7. The husband told police he woke to find her missing. The Delaware Township Volunteer Fire Department, the Leavenworth County Sheriff Department and canine units initiated a search, along with family members.
The woman was found at about 7 a.m. Oct. 7 by a family member and transported to St. John Hospital, Leavenworth, where she was treated for exposure and a leg injury, according to deputy John Duncanson.
A car-deer accident was reported to the sheriff department Oct. 29 on Leavenworth County Road 14 near Santa Fe Trail. The driver of the vehicle was traveling eastbound when a deer entered the road and he was unable to avoid striking it. There were no injuries or damage reported.
