Dear readers: You’re invited to our party

By Caroline Trowbridge - | Apr 26, 2000

On May 4, The Mirror will celebrate its 118th birthday, and the newspaper’s staff would like our readers to join us for an afternoon open house.

We’d like all of our readers to come on over to our offices at 520 E. Fourth and have a piece of birthday cake. We’ll be celebrating from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on May 4.

This is just a small way of saying “thank you” to all of your who have contributed to The Mirror’s success during the past 118 year years.

After all, publishing a newspaper is a community partnership. During the years, Mirror staff members have depended on the community to provide information. And Mirror staff members have depended on the community to read the newspaper and to advertise in the newspaper.

Without our readers and advertisers in Southern Leaven-worth County, The Mirror could not survive.

We’re especially grateful to those of you who have made us feel so welcome since the change in ownership last September. You have made us feel like one of the family. You graciously have invited us into your homes, into your offices and into your schools as we report stories and make photographs for our weekly newspaper. And we appreciate that.

So come on over on May 4 for a little cake. And if you can’t make it that day, stop in and say hello another day. Our door is always open, and we’ll be glad to see you.
