Tonganoxie Police
Several thefts have occurred at home construction sites for Stone Creek in the past week. During the weekend, two windows and an electrical box worth $300 were stolen. Early last week, 18 16-foot 2x10s and four boxes of anchor bolts were taken. Last Thursday, miscellaneous lumber worth $2,000 was stolen, police reports said.

Leavenworth County Sheriff
A vehicle driven by Rory Burke, 16, Tonganoxie, was traveling north on 219th Street, north of Leavenworth Road, about 12:45 p.m. Aug. 1 when he lost control of the vehicle and went off the road into a ditch. A vehicle driven by Christopher Laurent, 16, Tonganoxie, was following Burke and was unable to stop, hitting Burke's vehicle. Damages amounts are unknown, according to sheriff's reports.

A vehicle driven by Helen Aydukovich, 74, Tonganoxie, was traveling west on U.S. Highway 24, west of 206th Street, about 3:15 p.m. Aug. 2 when it struck and killed a deer. Damage was estimated at $5,000, sheriff's reports said.

Mark Bietka, 42, Lansing, fell asleep about 2:30 a.m. Sunday as he was driving on Mount Olivet Road, east of 195th street. Tire marks indicate he went off the road on the south side and then crossed over and went into the ditch on the north side. Bietka left the scene and did not report the accident for about eight hours. He was cited for leaving the accident scene and not reporting it by the quickest means. The vehicle was a total loss, sheriff's reports said.
