Reunions

Tonganoxie High School
Class of 1935

Members of the Class of 1935 of Tonganoxie High School on May 13 were guests of classmate Anna Mary Doege Landauer at her home in Basehor.

Those present were Dorothy Gress Somers, John P. Lenahan and Marie Wicky Millerett, Lawrence; Anna Mae Ronan Lyon, Overland Park; Courtney Duncanson, Ottawa; Dorthea Davidson Oelsen, Eudora; Jamie Royal Knipp, Basehor; Albert Yonally and wife, Alma, Mission. The following sent letters: Ted Clements Flanagan, Stephenville, Texas; Keats Dorney Turner, Sun City, Ariz.; Jennings Osborn, Junction City.

Letters were received from the widows of Wilbur McPherson, who died in November 1999, in Baxter Springs and Allen Ric, who died Jan. 1, 2000, in Palo Alto, Calif. Classmates would like to have information about Robert Gobel and Alonzo Leslie. Calls were received from Mildred Lee Shoemaker and Frances Grundel McEvoy.

Others attending: Ruby Warren White, Tonganoxie, provided a history of 100 years of graduates of Tonganoxie High School, 1900 to 2000; Anna Mary Landauer's mother, Carrie Eble Doege, class of 1914; Landauer's brother, Carl Doege, Class of 1940; Albert J. Doege, Tonganoxie, class of 1938 and his wife, Celeste; Mildred Duncanson Cook, Ottawa; Mary Jo Thronberry, Overland Park.

Helping to host the special event were Don and Sharron Welch, Olathe, a nephew and wife of Albert Doege's; husband John Welch, Rapid City, S.D.; John Alberta complimented Anna Mary Landauer with a floral table arrangement. Dorthea Oelsen and Anna Mary Landauer led the old school alma mater song for the closing event.

Smith School
A reunion of the Smith School, which was located on County Road 5 during the early part of the 1900s, was held recently at the Riford Center.
