Tonganoxie Police

A vehicle driven by Kelly Gill, 35, Tonganoxie, was traveling west on U.S. Highway 24-40, east of Main Street, about 3:15 p.m. last Wednesday when another vehicle headed east lost control, spun around on the highway and hit Gill's vehicle. There were no injuries.

A vehicle driven by Frank Hughes Jr., 38, Tonganoxie, was turning right on Main Street from U.S. Highway 24-40 about 8:15 a.m. Tuesday. After the turn, Hughes' vehicle slid into a vehicle driven by George Wingo, Effingham. No injuries were reported, but damage to the vehicles was more than $500.

Leavenworth County Sheriff

A vehicle driven by Alexandra Peltier, 17, Lawrence, struck a utility pole guy wire after she lost control on ice about 4 p.m. Thursday at County Road 5 and Hollingsworth Road. Damage to the vehicle was more than $500.

A vehicle driven by Donnie Brownback, 65, Tonganoxie, was hit from behind about 6:30 a.m. last Wednesday at Kansas Highway 7 and Fairmont Road. The driver fled without making a report. Damage was more than $500 to Brownback's vehicle.

A vehicle driven by Brian Engelke, 35, Ozawkie, was traveling south on Leavenworth County Road 1, south of Alexander Road, about 7:15 a.m. last Wednesday when a deer ran onto the road and was hit. Damages were more than $1,500.

A vehicle driven by Jennifer Sandahl, 28, Bonner Springs, was traveling north on Leavenworth County Road 2 and came to a stop at U.S. Highway 24-40 about 8 a.m. Dec. 19. A vehicle driven by Joshua Ney, 16, Bonner Springs, rear-ended Sandahl's vehicle. Both vehicles were functional. There were no injuries. Damages were more than $500.

A Christmas Day fire caused about $50,000 worth of damage to a home in the 16000 block of Deer Track near Bonner Springs. The fire was caused by a short-circuit in a timer about 5:15 p.m. Monday. Smoke damage was heavy throughout and numerous items were melted due to the intense heat. Fairmont Fire Department responded and contained the fire in the front living room.

A vehicle driven by David Wingert, 45, DeSoto, was traveling west on Golden Road, west of 170th Street, about 7 p.m. Saturday when Wingert swerved to avoid a deer. Wingert then lost control of the vehicle and went into a ditch. The vehicle struck a utility pole and broke it in half. There were no injuries.

A vehicle driven by Kathryn Jaster, 52, Leavenworth, was traveling east on County Road 14, west of County Road 33, about 8:15 a.m. last Thursday when Jaster lost control of the vehicle on the snow-packed road. The vehicle left the road and struck a utility pole. She was not injured.
