Track fans won't have to travel far for regionals this year.
Tonganoxie has been selected as the site for one of four 4A regionals to be held May 19.
John Lee, Tonganoxie activities director, said field events will begin early in the afternoon. Sixteen teams will compete at the Tonganoxie regional.
The day will be a busy one for Tonganoxie High School as it is also the last day of school.
There will be pitching clinics for baseball and softball players Saturday at the Tonganoxie Junior High School gymnasium.
The clinic is free and open to children in the third through eighth grades.
Kansas City Kansas Community College baseball coach Matt Goldbeck will work with baseball pitchers from 9 a.m. to noon.
Kansas City Kansas Community College softball coach Diane Goldbeck will work with softball pitchers from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
No advanced registration is needed. Don't wear cleats. Bring a glove. Coaches are welcome.
