Accident injures 3 area residents
A McLouth man remains at the Kansas University Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan., recovering from facial injuries he suffered in a June 16 accident west of Tonganoxie.
Leavenworth County Sheriff's Department on Tuesday released these details of the accident, which occurred about 6 p.m.:
A car driven Deborah J. Shannon, 43, was headed west and stopped to turn left into her driveway at 21051 McLouth Road when it was struck from behind by a pickup driven by Daniel S. King, 17, Oskaloosa. A third car, driven east by Beth I. Harrington, 25, Valley Falls, was hit by debris from the accident.
A back-seat passenger in Shannon's vehicle, Timothy Hoffsett, 33, McLouth, was taken by a helicopter ambulance to the Kansas University Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan., where he remains in the surgical intensive care unit.
Deborah Shannon and another passenger, Kenneth Shannon, 15, were taken by Leavenworth County Ambulance Service to Providence Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan., where both were treated and released.
