Wilson S. Dobbs
1913-2000

Services for Wilson S. “Red” Dobbs, 86, Cummings, were Friday at Barnett Funeral Home in Oskaloosa. Burial was in Winchester-Wise Cemetery, Winchester.

Mr. Dobbs died Tuesday, March 14, 2000, at his home in rural Cummings. He was born July 22, 1913, in Tonganoxie, the son of William S. and Nancy Jane Lillie Dobbs. Mr. Dobbs lived in Atchison from 1943 to 1988. He lived in McAllen, Texas, for nine years before returning to Cummings in 1996.

Mr. Dobbs was a sewing machine mechanic for the Horton Garment Company in Atchison and retired in 1975 after 25 years of service. After retirement, he continued to repair sewing machines for many years for the Sears Co., the Benedictine Sisters and the mop factory in Atchison.

He was a member of the Carol Baptist Church in Atchison and of the Sewing and Pattern Cutter’s Union in Kansas City, Mo.

Mr. Dobbs attended public schools in McLouth and Tonganoxie.

He married Nellie Mae Robertson on Sep. 18, 1931, at the State Fair in Topeka. She survives, of the home.

Other survivors include four sons, Robert E. Dobbs, New Braunfels, Texas, Allen L. Dobbs, Hackett, Ark., Wilson S. “Sonny” Dobbs, Grants, N.M., and Larry J. Dobbs, Leavenworth; three daughters, Linda M. Bindel, Kansas City, Kan., Alice Ray, Cheney, and Nancy Lange, Cummings; a brother, Elmer Dobbs, Alamo, Texas; a sister, Mildred Ehart, McLouth; 29 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; and 19 great-great-grandchildren. One son, Martin E. Dobbs, died in 1993.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the Atchison County Home Health and Hospice, sent in care of Barnett Funeral Home, 820 Liberty, P.O. Box 416, Oskaloosa, 66066.

Alice L. Percifield
1902-2000

Services for Alice L. Percifield, 97, Tonganoxie, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Quisenberry Funeral Home, Tonganoxie, with burial in Maple Hill Cemetery, Kansas City, Kan. The Rev. David Showalter will officiate.

Mrs. Percifield died Monday, March 20, 2000, at Tonganoxie Nursing Center. She was born Nov. 30, 1902, in Omaha, Neb., the daughter of William L. and Edna (Sprenkle) Trobough. She was a member of the McLouth Church of the Nazarene. Her husband, Gilbert E. Percifield, died on Sept. 6, 1962.

Survivors include a son, Richard Percifield, Kansas City, Kan.; a stepson, Gilbert E. Percifield Jr. of California; nine grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until service time on Thursday.

Jewel R. (Peggy) Worley

Services for Jewel R. (Peggy) Worley, 69, Basehor, are pending at Quisenberry Funeral Home. Mrs. Worley died Monday, March 20, 2000, at Queens Medical Center, Honolulu, Hawaii.

Roy M. Lowe
1918-2000

Graveside services for Roy M. Lowe, 81, Leavenworth, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Fall Creek Cemetery in Jarbalo, with the Rev. Jack Divine officiating.

Mr. Lowe died Monday, March 20, 2000, at the Dwight D. Eisenhower Veterans Administration Hospital in Leavenworth. He was born Oct. 14, 1918, in Jarbalo, the son of David and Lola Trackwell Lowe. He was a painter, who worked for various companies doing residential and commercial work. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945. His wife, Anna Lowe, died in 1992.

Survivors included two daughters, Greta Ball, Perry, and Gayle Piper, Colorado Springs; a stepdaughter, Elizabeth Reed, Riley; a brother, Clifton Lowe, Lansing; nine grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Belden-Sexton-Sumpter Funeral Chapel, Leavenworth. The family suggests memorial contributions to Fall Creek Cemetery, sent in care of the funeral home.
