Leavenworth County Sheriff
A vehicle driven by George Johnson II, 30, Winchester, was traveling west on Kansas Highway 192, close to the Jefferson/Leavenworth county line, about 5 p.m. last Wednesday, when it struck and killed a deer. Damage to the vehicle was more than $500.
A vehicle driven by Linda Hancock, 58, Tonganoxie, was traveling west on U.S. Highway 24-40 about 5:15 a.m. Thursday when it hit a deer. The deer fled and Hancock's vehicle sustained over $500 damage.
A vehicle driven by William Duncan, 58, Leavenworth, was traveling south on County Road 10 about 7:55 p.m. Thursday when a deer ran into the passenger side of the vehicle. The vehicle sustained over $500 damage.
Tonganoxie Police
Amber Miller, 17, Tonganoxie, was trying to turn left onto Shawnee Street from Fourth Street about 3 p.m. last Wednesday when her vehicle struck Danielle Henderson, 8, Tonganoxie. The young girl, who was crossing the street in a marked crosswalk, received minor injuries when she was knocked down. Her mother, Heather Gumm, declined transport by Leavenworth County EMS.
A vehicle driven by Jessie Whitford, 82, Tonganoxie, was stopped on U.S. Highway 24-40 and waiting to turn into a church parking lot about 7 p.m. last Wednesday when a vehicle driven by Andrew Becker, 15, Tonganoxie, rear-ended Whitford's vehicle. Becker said his vision was obscured by a foggy windshield and he did not see Whitford's vehicle. Whitford's vehicle was pushed across the road and into the ditch on the north side of the parking lot drive. Whitford had a scrape on the bridge of her nose and was attended by Leavenworth County EMS. She declined transport.
A vehicle driven by Thomas Hebert, 36, Tonganoxie, was traveling west on U.S. Highway 24-40, near Leavenworth County Road 5, about 7:30 p.m. last Wednesday, when it hit a deer. Damages were less than $500.
