Medical center sets flu vaccinations

Bethany Medical Center has rescheduled flu vaccination days.

Free flu vaccinations will be given on a first-come, first-serve basis to high-risk people from 8:30 a.m. to noon Dec. 5 and 7 in the Senior Services Department at the hospital, 51 N. 12th St., Kansas City, Kan. The medical center defines people at high risk: the chronically ill with heart, lung, kidney, liver disease or diabetes, people who are 65 and older, and healthcare workers.

Support group to meet next week

The Wyandotte County Arthritis/Fibromyalgia Support Group will meet next Wednesday at Bethany Medical Center.

The meeting will run from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. in G-1 Classroom at Bethany, 51 N. 12th St., Kansas City, Kan.

Vespers, open house planned Sunday

The Lecompton Historical Society’s annual Christmas Vespers and Open House will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Territorial Capital Museum in Lecompton.

The museum is decorated on three floors and contains a 15-foot native Christmas tree.

Music will be provided, including the playing of the 144-year-old Melodeon used in the Lecompton Episcopal Church in 1865.

Lawrence theater schedules auditions

Auditions for “The Last Night of Ballyhoo” will be held at 7 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at the Lawrence Community Theatre, 1501 New Hampshire.

This Tony Award winning play by Alfred Uhry is set in 1939 as Atlanta’s German Jews are preparing for the social event of the season. It is the story of a family pulled apart, then brought together . The play has roles for four women and three men. The age range is approximately 20 to 50.

Scripts may be checked out from the theater office with a $10 deposit. Rehearsals will generally be scheduled Sunday through Thursday evenings. The show is scheduled for performances Jan. 19-Feb. 4.

Providence Medical Center and St. John Hospital are offering a variety of classes and events in December.

Bereavement Support Group, 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., next Monday and Dec. 11 and 18.

Childbirth Preparation, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 9 and noon to 5 p.m. Dec. 10.

Adult Heart Saver Course (CPR), 8 a.m. to noon Dec. 16.

Breast Cancer Support Group, 6 p.m.-7:30 p.m. Dec. 21.
