Verna Marie Davison

A memorial service for Verna Marie Davison, 93, Lawrence, was Sept. 29, 2000, at Quisenberry Funeral Home in Tonganoxie with the Rev. YongBo Lee officiating. Private burial was in McLouth Cemetery, McLouth.

Miss Davison died Sept. 27, 2000, at Colonial Manor Nursing Center in Lawrence. She was born Jan. 29, 1907, in McLouth, the daughter of Edgar and Margaret (McGuire) Davison.

She attended Woodstock Grade School and graduated in 1925 from McLouth Rural High School. She received a degree in education from Emporia State Teachers College and taught in rural schools in the Lawrence and McLouth areas before moving to Kansas City, Mo., where she taught in elementary schools and worked for the Kansas City, Mo., board of education. She retired in 1972 as a social worker for Jackson County, Mo.

She was a member of the Linwood United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years. She was a life member of the Women's Society of Christian Service.

She moved to Lawrence in 1996.

Survivors include four sisters, Genevieve Wendorff, Lawrence, Helen Klinksiek, Overland Park, Audrey Gallagher, Fairfax, Va., and Maudie Flaherty, Jacksonville, Ind.
