Advance balloting under way
Advance voting for the Nov. 7 general election gets under way today.
Any registered voter can cast a ballot early in person at the county clerks office at the Leavenworth County Courthouse, 300 Walnut, Leavenworth. Advanced voting is available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, as well as from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Nov. 1 and Nov. 2.
Voters also can complete an application for advanced voting and mail it or fax it to the county clerks office. The application, essentially, is a request for a ballot to be mailed to a voter. Applications are available at the clerks office, as well as the Leavenworth County Annex in Tonganoxie. Applications must be received by the clerks office by 5 p.m. Nov. 3.
Completed ballots must be turned into the county clerks office by 7 p.m. on Election Day. The ballots cannot be accepted at polling places.
Monday is the last day to register to vote in the upcoming election. Leavenworth County residents can register to vote at the city halls in Leavenworth and Lansing; at the county annex in Tonganoxie; and at the Leavenworth Public Library.
