Fire association plans soup supper

The Alexandria Fire Association will sponsor a Chili and Soup Supper beginning at 5 p.m. Nov. 11 at the Jarbalo United Methodist Church.

The public is invited.

Two classes starting at Carnegie center

Two classes get under way next Wednesday at the Carnegie Arts Center in Leavenworth.

Drawing classes for children, ages 9 through 11, will meet from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Wednesdays (Nov. 1, Nov. 8, Nov. 15 and Nov. 29). Angela Lexow will teach the class, which will impart basic art elements with a focus on color and drawing.

A ballroom dance class for adults, 16 and older, will meet from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. next Wednesday and on four Tuesdays, Nov. 7 through 28. The class will cover the foxtrot, waltz, swing, cha-cha, rumba and merenge.

Sign language class starts in two weeks

Beginning sign language class taught by Darla Woods will be offered through the Women`s Community Y of Leavenworth starting Nov. 7.

The class will meet from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and run for four weeks at Warren Middle School.

For further information or to enroll, call the Women`s Community Y at (913) 682-6404. Fees are to be paid in advance at the Y office at 520 South Broadway, Leavenworth, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
