Kaw Valley chorus to sing 'Messiah'

The Kaw Valley Community Chorus will present portions of Handel's "Messiah" several times this weekend.

The group will sing at 8 p.m. Friday at West Haven Baptist Church in Tonganoxie. Other performances are scheduled for 8 p.m. Saturday at Bonner Springs United Methodist Church, and at 3 p.m. Sunday at the First Baptist Church of Basehor.

Admission is $6.

THS alumni banquet scheduled for May 12

The 2001 Tonganoxie High School alumni banquet will be held at 7 p.m. May 12 at the Tonganoxie High School.

Terrence Holton, who is one of the alumni organizing the event for the class of 1976, said tickets will be on sale in city businesses starting Saturday.

The tickets are $12.50 in advance, or $14 at the door.

The Chieftain singers will provide entertainment during the banquet and Bichelmeyer's Steakhouse will cater the dinner.

Following the banquet, a dance will be held at Shoemaker's Auction. All alumni are invited.

Cancer support group to meet Monday

The topic at Monday's Breast Cancer Support Group meeting is "Caring for the Caregiver."

The meeting will run from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Tonganoxie Library, 305 Bury.
