Overland Park museum shows Cold War exhibit

An exhibition on the “Cold War: Promise and Fear in the 1950s” begins this week at the Johnson County Museum of History.

The exhibition will be shown through Dec. 30 at the museum, 6305 Lackman Road, Overland Park. The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, and from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sunday. For more information, call (913) 631-6709.

Storytelling Festival set for April 27-28 in Downs

The eighth annual Kansas State Storytelling Festival is set later this month in Downs.

The festival will run April 27 and 28, and will showcase storytellers, authors and Kansas artists.

Annual art exhibit planned at museum

The 48th annual Verdigris Valley Art Exhibit will begin April 28 at the Independence Historical Museum, Eighth and Myrtle, Independence, Kan.

The exhibit will run through May 6. The exhibition will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $2.

Bonner Springs offers downtown art fair

The Bonner Springs Art Fair is set for this month.

The fair will run from noon to 5 p.m. April 28 on Oak Street in downtown Bonner Springs. Area artists will display their work.
