Stephen Huhn, 43, Leavenworth, was driving north on Leavenworth County Road 29 near County Road 10 about noon on April 17 when a group of deer ran onto the road. Huhn swerved to miss the deer, and his vehicle went into the grass and struck a signpost. No injuries were reported.

Steven Waxmonski, 21, Linwood, was traveling west on Cantrell Road about 1:30 p.m. Friday when he lost control as he tried to turn south onto 200th Street. The vehicle spun around, struck and ditch and turned on its side. Neither Waxmonski nor a passenger was injured.

An unidentified pickup truck hit and injured a deer about 6:20 p.m. Sunday just north of McIntrye Road on Kansas Highway 7. The deer received a broken rear leg and ran into a wooded area. A Leavenworth County sheriff's deputy checked on the deer, but it tried to run away and fell against a fence. The officer euthanized it.

A Tonganoxie woman was injured when a male acquaintance allegedly assaulted her about 7 a.m. Monday at her home in the 200 block of West Third Street. The woman, police said, received an injury to her leg in a struggle, as well as a burn on her side from a curling iron. Police said no one was arrested, but a report was forwarded to the county attorney's office for the possible filing of charges.

Law officers seized marijuana and stolen power tools from an apartment at Cedar Ridge Apartments.

About 7 a.m. Thursday, Tonganoxie police and Leavenworth County sheriff's officers searched an apartment, where they found 1 1/2 pounds of what they believe to be marijuana, drug paraphernalia and $800 worth of stolen power tools, according to Major Dave Zoellner of the sheriff's department.

No one was arrested, pending results of lab tests on the drugs. In the apartment at the time of the search, Zoellner said, were a 21-year-old man, a 20-year-old woman and a 19-year-old woman.

Tonganoxie police Sgt. John Putthoff said the tools were taken last weekend from an apartment construction site just south of Cedar Ridge Apartments.
