Obituary: Harriet Frances Hancock
Services for Harriet Frances Hancock, 81, Tonganoxie, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, 2001, at the United Methodist Church in Tonganoxie, with the Rev. Omar Tittle officiating. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Kansas City, Kan.
Mrs. Hancock died Sunday, July 29, 2001, at her home. She was born Oct. 24, 1919, in Kansas City, Kan., the daughter of Ruben and Laura (Phillips) Johnson.
She was a homemaker and had owned Hancock Variety Store in Tonganoxie. She was a member of the Tonganoxie Senior Citizens, a founder of the Good Shepherd Thrift Shop and a member of the United Methodist Church, where she was active in the United Methodist Women.
Her husband, Arthur E. Hancock Sr., died Aug. 23, 1986. Survivors include two sons, Arthur E. Hancock Jr., and Quentin C. Hancock, both of Tonganoxie; a daughter, Phyllis F. Janson, Austin, Texas; a sister, Lucy Capp, Kansas City, Kan.; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the United Methodist Church Endowment Fund, sent in care of Quisenberry Funeral Home, Box 993, Tonganoxie, 66086. Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Aug. 1, 2001, at Quisenberry Chapel.
