Bonner Springs preparing for Tiblow Days fest

The annual Tiblow Days celebration will be held next week in Bonner Springs.
The event scheduled for Aug. 24 and Aug. 25 is sponsored by the Bonner Springs/Edwardsville Chamber of Commerce.
Activities will begin on Aug. 24 with the annual mayor's banquet at Clark Middle School.
The featured speaker will be Marlene Nagel, director of community development for the Mid-America Regional Council.
The majority of events will be held on Aug. 25, and will include the 23rd running of the Tiblow Trot, starting at Kelly Murphy Park.
And a parade gets under way at 9:30 a.m. Aug. 25. The large parade includes high school bands from Bonner Springs, Tonganoxie, Piper and Basehor-Linwood.
Following is the schedule for the 2001 Tiblow Days:

Aug. 24
Mayor's Banquet, Clark Middle School. Tickets are $18, which may be purchased at city hall or from any Rotary member.
5:45 p.m., Social Hour
6:15 p.m., Dinner
7 p.m., Speaker
7:30 p.m., Children's Theatre

Downtown 6 p.m.-10 p.m.
Food court on Second Street
Craft Show at the Community Center
Community Activities, parking lot west of the park
Entertainment, Kelly Murphy Park, 6 p.m.8 p.m., M.C.'s D.J.; and 8:30 p.m.-10 p.m., City Band and Ice cream Social.

Aug. 25
23rd Running of the Tiblow Trot 5 mile run through Bonner Springs
Race beings at 7 at Kelly Murphy Park.
Fee is $12 if paid prior to Aug. 24; $15 the day of the race. T-shirts to the first 100 participants.

Children's Parade, 9:15 a.m., line up at Berning Tire bring your decorated bike or pull float.
Tiblow Parade, 9:30 a.m., high school bands, dignitaries, shrine units, floats, horses, show cars and much, much more.
Car Show. Cars are in the parade and on display on Oak street following the parade, 11:30 a.m. 5 p.m.
Crafts, at the community center from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
Booths, games and activities after the parade until 10 p.m.
Food Court, 10 a.m. 5 p.m., on Second Street
Hospitality Room, 10:30 a.m.1 p.m., at the Chieftain for dignitaries and chamber members

11:15 p.m., Post Parade Awards Ceremony
11:30 p.m., Centennial Park Dedication
11:30 p.m., drill team
Noon, cheerleaders
12:30 p.m., Magic Show (tent)

5:30 p.m., Better Than Fair Players (comedy improvisation)
