Leavenworth County Sheriff
Two vehicles collided on County Road 33, north of Kansas Highway 92 about 5:10 p.m. Friday. A vehicle driven by Matthew T. Seeler, 23, Leavenworth, struck the rear of a car driven by Jewell M. Lee, 74, Leavenworth. Reports said that Seeler told sheriff's officers he was traveling too fast before the accident occurred.
A vehicle driven by Barbara L. Riddle, 58, Lawrence, struck a deer about 8:15 a.m. Friday on Kansas Highway 32.
A vehicle driven by Dawn M. Weston, 44, Leavenworth, struck a deer about 6:10 a.m. Monday.
Police were called to a fight between a 42-year-old Riverside, Mo., man and a 43-year-old Bonner Springs man about 5:30 p.m. Sunday in the 2000 block of Brookridge Court. Both men were cited to appear in municipal court on charges of battery.
A 16-year-old Tonganoxie girl and a 17-year-old Tonganoxie girl were detained Aug. 10 on charges of being minors in possession of alcohol in the 300 block of Shawnee.
Jefferson County District Court
A jury trial has been scheduled for Ronald Decker, 52, rural McLouth, charged with first-degree murder in the 1999 shooting death of another man. The trial is scheduled to begin Oct. 30. Decker is charged in connection with the death of Lloyd Green, 45. In July, officials dug up Green's body, after receiving a tip that the body was buried on Decker's property north of McLouth.
A pre-trial conference is set for Oct. 5. Decker remains in custody in the Jefferson County Jail.
