Sewer project wrapped up

December 5, 2001

The sewer interceptor project in Tonganoxie is complete.

The project, which added an interceptor behind Himpel Lumber Co. property just south of Fifth Street, also removed a lift station west of the interceptor near Delaware Street. The work involved 3,000 lineal feet of pipe and started Oct. 9.

Miles Excavation, Basehor, was given 90 days to complete that project, but the firm already has completed the job. The company also completed priority work on Barton Street between Delaware and Pleasant Streets. That project had a 15-day deadline, but it only took five days.

Brian Kingsley, B&G Consultants, Lawrence, said a final inspection of the interceptor project would be performed by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment in the near future, possibly this week.

The work was financed by a $362,000 KDHE loan.
