Victory Baptist gains new pastor
A new pastor is serving Tonganoxie's Victory Baptist Church.
The Rev. Michael L. Waggoner was approved by the church membership on Jan. 14. Waggoner and his wife, Diana, have lived in Tonganoxie since November 1999.
The couple have been active in the ministry of Victory Baptist Church by teaching Sunday School classes, helping with the bus ministry, filling in with pulpit supply, church drama and singing special music.
Both Michael and Diana Waggoner were educated at Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Mo. She earned a certificate in practical church ministries with additional studies in elementary education, ladies ministries and missions. While attending Baptist Bible College she was on the honor roll during her entire regiment of classes.
He had the top grade-point average in his graduating class. He also received numerous academic and national awards.
After college the Waggoners returned to their home church, Haven Baptist Church, in Haven, Kansas, to minister as the associate pastor and youth minister. In September 1993, Waggoner was ordained.
Following Haven the Waggoners were unanimously called by First Baptist Church of Medicine Lodge, one of the oldest Baptist churches in Kansas established in 1876.
Their ministry at First Baptist Church grew from 25 in attendance on Sunday morning to a church record attendance of 188. Following Medicine Lodge, the Waggoners ministered at Countryside Baptist Church.
