Pharmaceutical company plans October opening of Urban Hess

July 18, 2001

A pharmaceutical firm in the Urban Hess Business Center continues to inch toward completion.

Right Choice Pharmacy, which will contract with pharmacies to fill prescriptions, has nearly completed a 10,000-square-foot building in the park. The next step is supplying the building with equipment.

Co-owner Jim Aldrich, an accountant in Council Grove, said the firm has contracted for the Host Pharmacy Computer System, which will be installed later this month or in early August. Filling equipment should come in the middle of August, and the business will open Oct. 15.

Aldrich said that the process of developing the firm has met with some snags, as would any new business, but he said the process is going well overall.

"There are rough spots in the road there always will be," Aldrich said. "We take those in stride and are keeping it going."

Aldrich, along with his wife Connie, a pharmacist, owns the business with a Wichita couple. Right Choice will use automation to fill prescriptions in Tonganoxie and then send the medicine by courier to retail pharmacies.

The number of local employees in the company won't be known until Right Choice has contracts from pharmacies, large employers and insurance companies.

The Right Choice building is just west of S&S Alloy Steel in the Urban Hess Business Center.
