Cheer camp set for football field

The Tonganoxie Cheering Squad will conduct a mini-camp from 8:30 a.m. to noon July 30 and July 31.

The camp, which was originally scheduled for the high school gym, will be at the football field instead from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. July 16 Enrollment is $25 per child and is open to children from 3 years of age through sixth grade.

Parents can pay at the football field.

Annual soccer clinic returns in August

The fifth annual KC Wizards/KCKCC Soccer Clinic will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Aug. 2 and Aug. 3. The camp will feature select Wizard players, including Mo Johnston. The clinic will be at Chieftain Park and the cost is $20 for both nights, or $15 for one night. Family rate is $30 for two participants or $50 for three. The clinic is open to players ages 5 through 18.

Football camps start later this month

The Tonganoxie High School coaching staff will have football camps next week.

Anyone interested can sign up at the junior high or high school.

The varsity camp will be from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. A camp for fourth grade through eighth grade will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. July 30-31.

THS lift-a-thon scheduled for July 28

The THS football team will sponsor a lift-a-thon July 28 to gauge its improvements and raise funds for the team.

The fund-raising event will be on the football field.

The public is invited to attend.

Ladycats take spring tournament

The Ladycats, a team comprised of Basehor-Linwood, Bonner Springs and Tonganoxie players, won the spring season of the Johnson County Girl's Basketball League. The team went 7-1 in the spring and is now playing in the league's summer season.

Team members are Rebecca Bogard, Ashley Douglas, Erin Shore, Alexis Douglas, Laura Reed, Rachael Bogard, and Tiffany Waxmonski. Coaches are Brian Shore and Greg Douglas.
