Retailer still interested in Lansing
Home Depot continues to look at the Lansing area.
Tom Gray, spokesman for the Atlanta-based home improvement retailer, said Monday, "We're still looking at the area, and we're still interested."
But Gray declined to specify when more details would be available.
"It's kind of like going to the airport when there's no departure time on the flight yet," he said.
If constructed in Lansing, the Home Depot store would be built on an 18.4-acre tract on the west side of Kansas Highway 7, north of 4-H Road.
Michael Smith, Lansing city administrator, confirmed the city remains in communication with Home Depot.
"We've done everything and they'll be coming back to us in a couple of weeks to let us know," Smith said.
Founded in 1978, Home Depot operates 1,164 stores in the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, Chile and Argentina. Gray said that the average Home Depot store employs from 150 to 200 people.
