'Scopes Monkey Trial' in Topeka

Sheffel Theatre, Topeka, sets the stage for the court battle between creation and evolution with "Inherit the Wind."

This drama based on the "Scopes Monkey Trial" will run through 24.

Theater presents adaptation

The Lawrence Community Theatre will present "All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten" through March 17.

The adaptation of Robert Fulghum's best-selling book will be staged at the theater, 1501 New Hampshire, Lawrence.

Lied Center venue for Italian classic

Verdi's classical opera "Aida" will be performed March 11 at the Lied Center of Kansas in Lawrence.

The tragic love story will be performed by Teatro Lirico D'Europa in four acts and will be sung in Italian with projected English subtitles.

The Teatro Lirico D'Europa touring company is the largest and most successful in Western Europe.

The performance begins at 7 p.m. at the Lied Center, which is on West Campus at the University of Kansas

Classes offered at area arts center

The Carnegie Arts Center in Leavenworth is offering two classes that begin in March.

The Joy of Color, a silk-painting workshop for adults, will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 24.

Homeschool Graphic Design, a computer graphics class for students ages 10 and older, will meet from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. on six Thursdays, March 2 through April 26.
