Vandals blamed for cable TV outages
Two recent cablevision outages in Linwood and Tonganoxie have been traced to shotgun blasts.
Tom Evans, director of engineering for Sunflower Cablevision said outages occurred last Wednesday and on Feb. 21.
"They go out there target-practicing," Evans said. "They've done it twice in the last three weeks, and they shoot up our fiber, which in turn, turns off cablevision to Linwood and Tonganoxie."
Two black fiber enclosure boxes have been the vandals targets. The boxes hang from wires near Stranger Creek along Kansas Highway 32, Evans said. It normally takes crews about six hours to repair the damage, he said.
