A Tonganoxie couple, who were charged in January in connection with a methamphetamine operation at a local motel, have pleaded no contest to several charges.
David and Julie Godfrey faced numerous drug charges in Leavenworth County District Court. The Godfreys were arrested Jan. 12 after Leavenworth County sheriff's officers discovered what they believe was a methamphetamine lab in the room in which the Godfreys lived at the Sunset Inn, 205 U.S. Highway 24-40.
Last week, Julie Godfrey pled no contest to possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell, a felony, and to endangering a child, a misdemeanor. Her sentencing is set for 9 a.m. June 18.
David Melton of the Leavenworth county attorney's office said prosecutors entered into a plea agreement with the couple.
"We wouldn't oppose probation if she attends and successfully completes Labette boot camp and a drug treatment program," he said.
David Godfrey pled no contest to two felonies unlawful manufacture of a controlled substance and possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell as well as a misdemeanor count of endangering a child.
His sentencing is set for 9 a.m. June 11. Prosecutors will recommend that he serve between 142 and 161 months in prison, Melton said.
