Free tennis clinic scheduled for June 2
The Tonganoxie Recreation Commission is sponsoring a free tennis clinic on June 2 at the tennis courts in Chieftain Park.
The clinic will be conducted by Sid Kanter, head teaching pro at Homestead Racquet Club in Kansas City. Other tennis instructors from Kansas City will assist Kanter.
The first clinic session is for children ages 10 and under and it will run from 2:15 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. The second session is for ages 11 through 18 and will run from 3:30 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. The final session is for adults, and it will run from 4:15 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Each clinic will consist of an exhibition by the professionals in addition to teaching of tennis skills. Tennis balls will be provided. Participants are encouraged to bring their own tennis racquets. However, Kanter will bring a number of racquets in case anyone does not have a racquet.
Although the clinic is free, anyone interested in participating is asked to register by calling the Tonganoxie Recreation Commission Office at 845-3502.
