Charles A. Moore

Services for Charles A. Moore, 78, Tonganoxie, will be at 11 a.m. today, May 30, 2001, at the United Methodist Church in Tonganoxie. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery in Basehor.

Mr. Moore died Sunday, May 27, 2001, at the Tonganoxie Nursing Center. He was born March 26, 1923, in Florence, Kan., the son of Arthur and Leona (Byrd) Moore.

He retired in 1987 from Neosho Community College, where he taught Spanish, French and business classes. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, a member of the United Methodist Church in Basehor, the American Legion Post No. 170 in Chanute, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 11499 in Basehor and the Phi Mu Symponia honorary fraternity.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in business and a master’s degree in Spanish, both from Emporia State College.

On May 19, 1973, he married Geraldine McCall in Manhattan, Kan. She survives.

Other survivors include a daughter, Sarah Moore Glod, Richmond, Va.; a stepdaughter, Marilyn McGown, Tonganoxie; a brother, Fred Moore, Effingham, Ill.; two grandchildren; and two stepgrandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the church. The family suggests memorial contributions to the United Methodist Church in Basehor, sent in care of Quisenberry Funeral home, P.O. Box 993, Tonganoxie, 66086.
