Editor's note: First-graders in Kathy Riddle's class at Tonganoxie Elementary School were asked recently how to make a pumpkin pie, a staple at most modern Thanksgiving Day feasts. Here are their recipes.
First, I would get the pie plate. Then I would get the ingredients. Then I would put them together. I would put it in the oven for 10 minutes and then I would let it sit by the open window to cool off. Then I would eat it.
Put pumpkin in it and put the seeds in it. Put it in the oven for 10 minutes. Then take it out and put a fork in it to check it. If it's still cold, put it back in. Then take it out and eat it.
Take the insides of the pumpkin in the pan. Bake it for 15 minutes. Take it out and put honey on it. Put a cherry on top.
I would put flour in and milk and pumpkin. Bake it for 15 minutes.
It is very good. I would eat it all up. Put the pumpkin seeds in the pot and put the milk in. Then I will bake it for seven minutes.
Put it in the oven for probably two seconds.
Bake the seeds. Then cook the pie for five minutes. Then put the seeds in it.
Put in the brown stuff that is gooey in the can. Put in some powder. Cook it in the oven for about 15 minutes.
Get the pumpkin pie mix. Get the pan to put it in. Put the pumpkin mix in the pan. Cook it.
Pick the pumpkins. Cut it. Cook it.
Get a pumpkin when it's orange. Then I would cook it into a pumpkin pie. After it's done, I would share it with my family.
First, put a pot that's about this wide and get a pumpkin. Take all the seeds out of it. Throw the seeds away. Keep the leftovers of the inside. Put it in the oven for 20 minutes. Wait until 20 minutes is up.
You get a pumpkin. Then cut it and then you put it in a pot and cook it.
I would smash a pumpkin and then I would make the pie. Cook it in the oven for 42 minutes.
I would get a pot and get some pumpkin seeds. Put the seeds in the pot. I would cook it on the stove for two or three minutes. Then take it off the stove and eat it.
Get some pumpkins. Carve some stuff out of it. Mix bread with it. Bake it for 20 minutes.
Cook it for 15 minutes. Put blueberries in it. Put grapes in it. Eat it.
Make it with syrup and oil. Bake it for 10 hours.
I would get a pumpkin. Then get strawberries. Then bake the pumpkin. I would get it out of the oven and put the strawberries in it. Cut it in triangles. Then use my fingers to smash it on the outside to be pretty.
Put some dessert on it. Add oil and some seeds. Cook it in the oven for 10 minutes. Eat it.
