A very special man

A very special man

To the editor:

Last week, my grandson, who is in the Navy, got home on a seven-day leave. (His originally scheduled leave of two weeks had been cancelled because of the crisis.)

He'd been in the Persian Gulf for six months and had been through some tense situations and was pretty stressed out. So I suggested he go see Dr. Stevens, who has been our family doctor for three generations.

After this visit which Dr. Stevens refused to take any payment for he had a completely different outlook. When it was time to go back (which he was really dreading), he was ready to go.

This meant so much to me that I just wanted to share that only in America and places like Tonganoxie that we are really blessed to have such caring people as Dr. Stevens.
