Potluck dinner set
at senior center

The Tonganoxie Senior Center will hold a potluck dinner on Monday. The gathering will begin at 6 p.m. at the Florence Riford Senior Center, Sixth and Bury. Everyone is welcome, regardless of age. Plans for the center's Everything Sale will be finalized during the meeting. The upcoming sale is the only fund-raising project held to finance operation of the center. To donate items, call Jeanne Henson, 369-9449, or Del Englen, 845-9003. The sale will be Oct. 25, 26 and 27.

Cancer support group to meet Monday
The Leavenworth County Breast Cancer Support Group will meet at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Tonganoxie Library. The meeting topic will be clinical trials. Anyone who has participated in a trial is encouraged to attend.

Family reunion set
The descendants of Dexter and Candice Wiley are invited to a basket dinner at 12:30 p.m. Oct. 14 at the 4-H building at the Leavenworth County Fairgrounds in Tonganoxie. Drinks will be provided.

Area church prepares for supper, bazaar
St. Martin Lutheran Church will hold its annual Chili Supper and Bazaar from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Saturday. The church is at the intersection of Kansas Highway 7 and Hollingsworth Road.
In addition to chili, chicken noodle soup and homemade desserts will be available. The bazaar will include craft items, baked goods and a drawing for a hand-made quilt. Proceeds from sale of the quilt will be given to the Metropolitan Lutheran Ministry for their work among the needy.

Jayhawk Model Masters to hold fly-in
The Jayhawk Model Masters radio-controlled airplane club of Lawrence will hold its annual Fly-In on Saturday, beginning at 9 a.m. Radio-controlled aircraft, including airplanes, helicopters and jets, will take to the air just below Clinton Lake dam, off Douglas County Road 458, south of Clinton Parkway. Admission is free for spectators, and a small fee will be charged for pilots.

KCK superintendent to speak Tuesday
Ray Daniels, Kansas City, Kan., school superintendent, will speak at Tuesday's meeting of the Wyandotte County Association of Retired School Personnel. The luncheon meeting begins at 11:45 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 51st and Parallel in Kansas City, Kan.

Blessing of animals set for Sunday
The Leavenworth Animal Welfare Society will sponsor a Community Blessing of the Animals on Sunday.
The event will begin at 2 p.m. at First National Bank, Seventh and Delaware, Leavenworth.
Each pet will be individually blessed and receive a St. Francis medal to wear. All types of animals and people of all faiths are welcome to participate in the annual event.
