Tonganoxie police

Vehicles driven by Pat Weyer, 17, Tonganoxie, and Joe Downs, 68, Tonganoxie, collided at 9:40 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of U.S. Highway 24-40 and Grace Street. Police reports said the accident occurred as Weyer’s vehicle was driving across the highway and Downs’ vehicle was headed south on the highway.

A vehicle driven by John Garrison, 79, Tonganoxie, at 2:45 p.m. Friday struck a car parked in the 500 block of East Fourth Street. Damage was minor, police officials said.

City of Tonganoxie Fire Department

Responded at 11:23 p.m. Saturday to the 800 block of Northstar Court to assist Leavenworth County Emergency Medical Service.

Responded at 12:19 a.m. Sunday to the 900 block of West Street for a public assist.

Responded at 1:50 a.m. Sunday to U.S. Highway 24-40 and Hemphill Road for a possible injury accident. No patients required treatment.

Responded at 9:48 a.m. Sunday to U.S. Highway 24-40 and Washington Street for a possible injury accident. Firefighters were canceled en route.

Responded at 9:59 a.m. Monday to the 17400 block of 246th Street to assist Leavenworth County Emergency Medical Service.

Leavenworth County Sheriff

A 1998 K-10, 125 cc orange dirt bike was taken from the 22100 block of Kansas Avenue between 11 p.m. Oct. 7 and 7:30 a.m. Oct. 8. The bike was valued at $2,500.

Donald L. Grape Jr., 41, Leavenworth, was traveling north on 147th Street when he drove off the side of the road as he tried to turn into a private drive near McIntyre Road. The accident occurred about 6:40 p.m. Thursday.

A vehicle driven by Lisa K. Walker, 36, Atchison, was traveling south on Leavenworth County Road 33 when her vehicle crossed Kansas Highway 92 and struck an embankment. The accident occurred about 8:20 a.m. Friday, and Walker said she was unfamiliar with the road and didn’t see a stop sign because of thick fog.

A vehicle driven east by Dale Daney, 46, Lawrence, struck a deer about three-fourths of a mile south of Loring Road on U.S. Highway 24-40. The accident occurred about 5:20 a.m. Friday.

A vehicle driven east by Meredith A. Edmonds, 58, McLouth, struck a deer about a one-quarter of a mile east of Leavenworth County Road 29 on Leavenworth County Road 8. The accident occurred about 6:50 a.m. Friday.

A vehicle driven north by Mary Latham, 78, Tonganoxie, struck a deer about four-tenths of a mile south of Hollingsworth Road on Leavenworth County Road 5. The accident occurred about 9:15 a.m. Saturday.

A vehicle driven west by Jennifer L. Thompson, 15, Tonganoxie, struck a deer near the Wolf Creek bridge on U.S. Highway 24-40. The accident occurred about 8:15 a.m. Saturday.

Windows of a pickup truck were broken out, causing an estimated $750 damage about midnight Sunday in the 2700 block of 179th Street.

About 70 compact discs, a CD-radio unit, a wallet with credit cards, a tool kit and school papers were reported stolen when someone burglarized several vehicles about midnight Sunday in the 27100 block of 179th Street.

A vehicle driven west by Robert Courtney, 63, McLouth, on Kansas Highway 92 about 7:50 p.m. Saturday struck a deer, just west of 231st Street.

U.S. District Court

A Leavenworth woman has been sentenced to 24 months in prison in connection with a money-making operation discovered in a northeast Leavenworth home. Lore Ogan’s sentence is to be followed by three years of supervised release, according to a representative in the U.S. attorney’s office. Ogan pled guilty in July to making counterfeit money. Last month, a second person was sentenced in the case. Dennis J. Brockenshire was sentenced to 18 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release.
