Hawk Hollow picnic
Hawk Hollow neighborhood is planning a picnic at 3 p.m., Sept. 29 at 20880 Stayyard Rd.
Nadine Holton will talk about teaching in a one-room school, and John Cass Lenahan will give a slide presentation of early days in Tonganoxie.
People attending are asked to bring lawn chairs and a covered dish.
Drinks and table service will be provided.

Bratwurst festival
St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Nortonville will host its sixth annual Bratwurst Festival on Sept. 30.
The German dinner, which is $6 for adults and $3 for children, will feature bratwurst, pork burgers, sauerkraut, and more.
The dinner will be served from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Other activities at the festival include a raffle, bingo, kids games and German music.
A German Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m.
