Prosser will represent county in national pageant
Paula Prosser, 13, daughter of Buz and Susie Prosser, Tonganoxie, has been selected to represent Kansas-Leavenworth County at the 2001 Miss American Preteen Pageant.

She and four other girls from Kansas qualified to compete for the title of Miss American Preteen by placing in queen’s court at the annual state pageant.

Paula was first runner-up in the preteen division, and she won the talent and acting competition in preteen.

As the 2001 Miss Kansas-Leavenworth County American Preteen, Paula will attend the national pageant for her age group during Thanksgiving week in Florida. She will compete for the national pageant title and more than $25,000 in case awards, prizes and scholarships.

Area students participate in KSU marching band

These area students at Kansas State University are members of the college’s marching band: Ashley White, piccolo, Basehor; Valerie Kindred, piccolo, Lansing; and Shannon Bergman, piccolo; Rachel Clark, clarinet; Laura Findley, piccolo; Jennifer Lopez, piccolo; Anna Meyer, piccolo; Christina Smith, piccolo; Will Smith, trumpet; and Brandon White, trumpet, all from Leavenworth.
