Obituary: Ira Frank “Ike” Burwell

Services for Ira Frank "Ike" Burwell, 91, Dighton, will be at 1 p.m. today, Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2002, at the First Christian Church, Dighton, with the Revs. Ben Friesen and Rev. George Bever officiating. Burial will be in the Beeler Cemetery.

Mr. Burwell died Sunday, Oct. 27, 2002, at the Lane County Long Term Care Center, Dighton. He was born Dec. 10, 1910, at McCracken, the son of John Amos and Cleapatra Ohl Burwell.

He had lived in Dighton since 1967, moving there from Beeler. He was a farmer and highway superintendent with the Kansas Department of Transportation for many years. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Beeler, and the Dighton Lions Club.

He married Nellie Croft at Dighton on Oct. 26, 1928. She survives of the home.

Survivors include one son, Keith Burwell, Tonganoxie, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at the church until the time of service. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Beeler Methodist Church or the First Christian Church, Dighton, sent in care of Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City, 67560.
