(Picture) The melodian arrived back home at the most appropriate time-the 125th anniversary of the First Congregational Church. (The melodian had arrived with the Rev. Woodcock family in July 1868, and was played by Elizabeth Woodcock at the services. It was “portable” and was boxed, loaded on wagons and carried to services and to camp/prayer meetings in the surrounding areas. It was given to the Leavenworth Museum upon the death of Arthur Upton. They suggested it be given to the historical society in Tonganoxie. It was to be stored at the church until the society had a place for it.)
