Obituary: C. Vernon George

Services for C. Vernon George, 68, Topeka, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, 2003, at West Side Christian Church in Topeka. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Topeka.

Mr. George died Sunday, Sept. 7, 2003, at St. Francis Health Center in Topeka. He was born July 11, 1935, in Freedom, Mo., the son of Emile H. and Alice Marie (Jones) George.

Mr. George graduated from Everest High School in 1953. He worked as a tower operator for DuPont/Flexel for 35 years before he retired in 1997.

He was a master woodworker. He was a member of West Side Christian Church and was a Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 13 and a committee member of Troop 357.

He married Y. Marcene Kuck on Nov. 11, 1956, in Hiawatha. She survives, of the home.

Other survivors include two sons, Herb George, Tonganoxie, and Charley George, Atchison; a daughter, Julie Baldwin, De Soto; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Friends may call after 3 p.m. today, Sept. 10, 2003, at Parker-Price Mortuary, 245 N.W. Independence, Topeka, where the family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

The family suggests memorial contributions to West Side Christian Church’s property department, 432 Lindenwood, Topeka, 66606-1348.
