Ex-director’s hearing rescheduled
A decision in a criminal case against the former director of the Tonganoxie Library will wait another month.
Former director Beckie Borella, 45, was to have a restitution hearing last Wednesday on charges of one county felony misuse of public funds. But according to Deborah Owens of the county attorney’s office, Borella and prosecutors could not agree on the amount of money Borella owes. So the restitution hearing was rescheduled until 11 a.m. Oct. 8 in Leavenworth County District Court.
The Tonganoxie Public Library claims that Borella used more than $17,000 of the library’s funds to purchase personal items.
However, Owens said Borella didn’t agree with the figure because the former library director thought the amount was too high.
