See you at the fair!
Wow. How can it be fair time already? It seems the kids just finished finals and end-of-school parties.
But here it is. My favorite time of year. And this year, I can't wait for the fair. The weather gods appear to be cooperating this year -- and we won't be sweltering, so I couldn't be happier.
I hope you'll join me at the fair this year.
It promises to be a great one, if the stories about some 4-H'ers in our annual Fair Edition are any indication.
These children and their families work extremely hard for months and months leading up to the fair. And now, it's time for them to show off their talents -- and relax with their friends.
It truly is amazing what these young 4-H'ers and FFA members accomplish, and the Leavenworth County Fair is their annual showcase.
Of course, the fair offers other fun activities -- and lots and lots of food, much of it sold by 4-H clubs and other deserving organizations. I'm certain most of the fair fare does not carry the Weight Watchers seal of approval. So I'll have my calculator out to count all of those points.
If you get a chance, stop by The Mirror's booth at the fair. We'll be around each night, and we'd love for you to stop by and chat for a few minutes. We'll have some giveaways and prizes. And, of course, balloons for youngsters -- and even oldsters.
The fair is a great time to see old friends -- and make new ones. Hope to see you there.
