Chambers seeking members for class
Applications for the 2004-2005 session of Southern Leavenworth County Leadership Development are now available.
The Basehor and Tonganoxie chambers of commerce again have teamed up to offer a series of classes designed to promote leadership among community members. The 15-year-old program has graduated more than 200 students from the Basehor, Tonganoxie, Lansing and Linwood areas.
Classes, which are held once a month through April, will begin Sept. 15, and will provide information about a variety of topics, including education, communications, government, business and economic development.
Classes usually are held in Basehor or Tonganoxie on the third Wednesday of each month.
Anyone who lives or works in the Leavenworth County area -- including high school juniors and seniors -- and who is interested in developing leadership skills and becoming better informed is eligible to participate. And businesses and organizations are encouraged to sponsor employees or members.
Application forms for the class are available at:
- In Tonganoxie: The Mirror newspaper office, the public library, city hall, Tonganoxie High School, First State Bank and Trust, Community National Bank and Mutual Savings.
- In Basehor: city hall, the public library, Basehor-Linwood High School, Community National Bank, First State Bank and Trust, and Citizens Savings and Loan.
- Other locations: Linwood Library and Lansing City Hall.
