Heim, Pistora earn more honors

December 8, 2004

Tonganoxie's two big hitters landed spots on this year's Lawrence Journal-World all-area volleyball team.

Senior Addie Heim and sophomore Ali Pistora were two of six players on the all-area team.

Heim, an outside hitter, had 274 kills, 57 blocks and 14 aces for the 30-9 Chieftains this year. An all-Kaw Valley League selection, Heim has caught the eye of NCAA Division II, community college and NAIA programs.

Pistora had 209 kills for THS, but also recorded 106 blocks and 37 aces. The middle blocker also was an all-Kaw Valley League pick.

Other players named to the team were Ottawa senior hitter Sadye Mages, Eudora junior setter Kelsey Epperson, Santa Fe Trail senior outside hitter Alexis Pryor and Eudora sophomore outside hitter Erin Kracl.

Eudora coach Jill Stutler was named coach of the year. She led the Cardinals to a 35-7 record and the school's first state appearance since 1991.

McLouth senior Emily Nitzsche was named all-area honorable mention.
