Obituary: Frances Marie Dougherty
Services for Frances Marie "Doot" Dougherty, 94, Leavenworth, will be at 2 p.m. today, Jan. 21, 2004, at Jarbalo United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Fall Creek Cemetery.
Mrs. Dougherty died Saturday, Jan. 17, 2004, at Broadway Heights in Leavenworth. She was born May 23, 1909, in the Boling community of Leavenworth County, the youngest of 12 children of Swiss-immigrant parents, John and Martha Blaser.
She graduated from Leavenworth High School, and shortly thereafter, she married Harold A. Dougherty. They settled into farming near Jarbalo and raised their family. She was a member of the Jarbalo church, and its UMW group. Her nickname, "Doot," was given by her first grandchild.
Her husband, Harold, died in 1987, after 59 years of marriage. Three grandsons, Mike Moore, Edward Moore and Ron Williams, also died earlier.
Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Williams, Leavenworth, and Donna Benson, Fairway; a son, Harold F. "Bud" Dougherty, of the home; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
Friends may call one hour before the service time at the church. The family suggests memorials to Jarbalo United Methodist Church or Fall Creek Cemetery Association.
