Obituary: Tom Pitts

Services for Tom Pitts, 68, Linwood, will be at 11 a.m. today, May 5, 2004, at Quisenberry Funeral Home in Tonganoxie. Burial will be in Hubbel Hill Cemetery, Tonganoxie.

Mr. Pitts died Sunday, May 2, 2004, at his home. He was born February 24, 1936, in Boone County, Mo., the son of Roy and Ella (Rice) Pitts.

He served in the U.S. Army, and was a heavy equipment mechanic for the Operating Engineers Local No. 101, Kansas City, Mo. Mr. Pitts also had served as a member of the Linwood Auxiliary Police.

He was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church, Eudora. Mr. Pitts was saved in 1964 in California.

He married Betty Duncan on April 14, 1956, in Shawnee. She survives, of the home.

Other survivors include two sons, Thomas Earl Pitts, Ottawa, Kan., and Ronald Dale Pitts, Stockton, Mo.; two daughters, Connie Chrisman, Tonganoxie, and Janice Sarlls, Linwood; a brother Steve Pitts, Kansas City, Kan.; two sisters Rose Elizabeth Gauthier, Columbia, Mo., and Shirley Steinbrook, San Jose, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A grandson, William Chrisman, preceded him in death.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Diabetes Association or Hospice, sent in care of Quisenberry Funeral Home, Box 993, Tonganoxie 66086.
