Obituary: Everett E. “Mac” McKinley

Military and Masonic funeral services for Everett E. “Mac” McKinley, 80, Wichita, will be at 2:30 p.m. today, Sept. 15, 2004, at Burden Cemetery in Burden, Kan.

Mr. McKinley died Saturday, Sept. 11, 2004, at Via Christi/St. Francis hospital in Wichita. He was born April 26, 1924, in El Dorado Springs, Mo., the son of William and Stella (Livingston) McKinley.

He was raised and received his education in El Dorado Springs. Mr. McKinley served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II, and was stationed in Guam and the Marianas Islands.

He married Donna Lee Collins on Feb. 3, 1946, in Wichita. The couple moved to Nevada, Mo., were they both worked at the state hospital. They later lived in Oregon and Washington, where Mr. McKinley worked for various state hospitals. In 1954, the couple returned to Wichita, where he learned the machinists’ trade and became a master tool and dye maker.

The couple moved to Kansas City, Kan., where Mr. McKinley was employed by Structural Steel. In 1971, they moved to Tonganoxie, and he worked for Certain-teed. He also operated a machine shop from his home. He retired from Certain-teed in 1989, and the couple returned to Wichita. Mr. McKinley later opened his machine shop from his home that he operated until a few weeks before his death.

He was a member of the Congregational Church in Tonganoxie, the Masonic Lodge of Valley Center and the Scottish Rite of Wichita.

Survivors include his wife, Donna, of the home. A daughter, Patricia Ressenbacher, preceded him in death.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Shriners Children Hospital-Burn Institute, sent in care of Miles Funeral Service, Winfield.
