Obituary: Ava Lynell Robinson
Services for Ava Lynell Robinson, 58, Lawrence, were at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, 2004, at Tonganoxie Christian Church. Burial will be in Hubbel Hill Cemetery in Tonganoxie.
Mrs. Robinson died Sept. 21, 2004, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, following a long illness. She was born Nov. 5, 1945, at Dodge City, the daughter of Ivan John "Ike" and Doris Ada Kinder Hasselman.
She had lived in Lawrence since 1982, moving there from Dodge City.
Mrs. Robinson was a self-employed quilter. She owned and operated Quilting Designs by Ava in Lawrence for five years. She also worked at Quilting Bits and Pieces in Eudora.
She taught adult continuing education classes at the Kansas City, Kan., area technical school and served as a volunteer for Cancer Action in Kansas City, Kan., the Bloch Cancer Hotline in Kansas City, Mo., and was a volunteer at Sunset Hill Elementary School in Lawrence.
She was a member and pianist at Tonganoxie Christian Church. She was a 1963 graduate of Dodge City High School who earned a bachelor of science degree in human development in 1999 from Ottawa University, Kansas City, Kan.
She married Dan L. Robinson on July 25, 1965, at Dodge City. He survives, of the home.
Other survivors include a son, Dane Robinson, Lawrence; a daughter, Amber Smith, Tonganoxie; and four grandchildren.
