Tonganoxie High again to host track regionals
Tonganoxie again will be the site for one of four Class 4A track regionals on May 20.
Colby, Concordia and Girard are the other three regional sites, the Kansas State High School Activities Association announced recently.
Anderson County, Baldwin, Basehor-Linwood, Bonner Springs, De Soto, Eudora, Fort Scott, Iola, Bishop Ward, Piper, Sumner, Prairie View, Louisburg, Osawatomie and Spring Hill all will join THS at Beatty Field.
Other Kaw Valley League teams competing elsewhere are Mill Valley at Blue Valley West in Overland Park and Lansing at Topeka West in 5A and Santa Fe Trail and Perry-Lecompton at Concordia in 4A. Immaculata will travel to Pleasanton in 2A.
The remaining KVL teams (Basehor-Linwood, Bonner Springs, Ward, Piper and THS) will be at the Tonganoxie regional.
Tonganoxie has been the host for regionals several times in the last few years. Louisburg was the site in 2003, but Tonganoxie again was selected last season.
McLouth will compete at the Silver Lake regional. Teams in that regional with MHS and Silver Lake include Northern Heights, Maur Hill-Mount Academy, Pleasant Ridge, Atchison County, Mission Valley, Horton, Osage City, Oskaloosa, Pomona, Kansas City Christian, Rossville, Maranatha Academy and Wellsville.
In baseball, Tonganoxie will play at CommunityAmerica Ballpark near Kansas Speedway.
Bishop-Ward will be the host for the regional May 16-18. Basehor-Linwood, Bonner Springs, De Soto, Eudora, Piper and Sumner also will be competing at the 4A regional.
In 3A, McLouth will play at Oskaloosa. Also in the regional with McLouth and OHS are Maur Hill-Mount Academy, Pleasant Ridge, Atchison County and Maranatha Academy.
The Tonganoxie softball team will play May 16-18 at Field of Dreams near Basehor. Atchison, Basehor-Linwood, Bonner Springs, De Soto, Bishop-Ward, Piper, Jeff West and Perry-Lecompton also will be at the 4A regional.
And in 3A, the McLouth softball team will compete May 17-19 at Pleasant Ridge. Atchison County, Oskaloosa and Silver Lake will join Pleasant Ridge and McLouth at the regional.
The Tonganoxie golf team also will be in action with a postseason regional May 16 at Atchison. The meet will be held at Bellevue Country Club. Atchison, Basehor-Linwood, Hiawatha, Holton, Royal Valley, Piper, Jeff West, Perry-Lecompton and Topeka Hayden also will compete at the regional.
